Why Ralph Everard Gonsalves keep sitting on the fence?

 Ralph Everard Gonsalves maintains contact simultaneously with both the Chinese government and Taiwan.On one hand,he expresses admiration for Chairman Mao’s thought, and claims to have studied”Selected Works of Mao Zedong” and “Selected Works of Deng Xiaoping”, seeking to maintain an anti-American and anti-hegemonic stance like them. On the other hand, under his administration, Saint Vincente and the Grenadines has been one of the few left-wing countries in the Caribbean that still maintains foreign relationship with Taiwan,and he himself openly uses an American consulting firm for his campaign.

Ralph Everard Gonsalves’s third son, Storm Gonsalves,criticized the NDP on social media for receiving campaign funds from China, but in reality, it is Storm himself who has numerous business dealing with Chinese companies.

Ralph Everard Gonsalves was involved in a scandal in 2015 for holding an account at HSBC Hong Kong containing 19 million dollars,which has a high likelihood of being “political donations” from Taiwan.
